Thank You
Thank you to everyone who helped to make the luncheon on Sunday a huge success.  The food was wonderful and delicious and the company and friendship shared was great.
Thank you also, to everyone who has filled out their pledge card for giving for 2017.  If you have not filled it out yet we will be calling to encourage you to make a commitment for next year and help us as we plan for ministry in the year to come.  You can also make your commitment by email to lcoll43@aol.com.  Thank you for your support of this community.

CFA Food Drive
For those who weren’t with us on 11/20 we want to reach out to everyone to thank them generously for their contributions to our Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Tom Noonan, Bill Graham and Ted Jadick delivered the largest return we have ever had to the Center for Food Action – 50 bags filled with food, l box also filled, $75.00 food certificates and $48.00 in cash.  WOW!  Everybody came through remembering the great need for families without food supplies.  The Mission Committee thanks each and every one for their caring of others especially at this Thanksgiving time which is a time of giving and sharing.

Ḟaithworks
The Season of Advent marks the beginning of a new church year and the beginning of a busy time for families as schedules and routines change to accommodate special activities. In the church, this is a time of waiting and preparation for God’s way of love, peace, and fairness. Beginning this coming Sunday at worship  some families of the church will be invited to participate in the ritual of lighting the candles of the Advent Wreath each week leading up to Christmas. Traditionally, the Advent wreath is a circle of evergreens, the round shape symbolizing the unending love of God and the evergreens symbolizing the hope for eternal life shared by all God’s people. There are four coloured candles (either four blue, or three purple and one pink), representing each of the four weeks of Advent, and one white candle in the middle that is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. This Advent, consider setting aside a space in your home (such as a corner of the family room or the dining room table) where the family can gather for a quiet time at the end of each day. Our youth may be bringing home a page with suggestions to use during  this special family time. At Ḟaithworks the Advent focus passages include powerful visions of hope and peace, seen through the eyes of the prophet Isaiah, Mary, and Joseph. This Sunday our Bible reading is from  Isaiah 2:1–5. Isaiah was a prophet who lived a long time before Jesus was born. Prophets were called by God to share special messages with the people. Sometimes the messages reminded the people about God’s way of living. Sometimes the messages were words of hope when people were having a hard time. The prophet Isaiah reminds us that in the face of war, fear and destruction, peace is more than just a word heard in Christmas songs; it is a deep longing for life, for justice, for wholeness. I hope that as we explore the text together, our children and youth will learn that  peace is  a journey that begins in ourselves towards the community and the world. The focus passage describes also the power of a holy or safe place. Our church can be a safe place where our young people can practice peace. They will be reassured that they are not powerless, but in fact have resources which they can use in their own srugguling relationships and in their worlds.  During this special season we will be praying for your child and your family. We invite your family to also include us in your prayers as we celebrate Jesus’ birth and the beginning of a ministry that continues to transform our world. We wish you a blessed Advent and a joyous Christmas season. ~PatPastás
Children will be excused from worship after their conversation with the Pastor. Childcare is provided for children 5 years and under in the 2nd floor classrooms.
