Stewardship 2017

We asked the people who attended service a few weeks ago to share, in a few words, what they love about our church and why they support our church.

If you did not get a chance to come to church recently, here’s an opportunity to write to Pastor Lou at revlouie@aol.com, and share your feelings about why you love this church and why you support the church. Thanks!

Our focus Bible reading for this week is Isaiah 65:17–25. This book is named after a prophet who lived before Jesus was born. It tells stories of people long ago who were living during a very difficult time, and of the prophets who brought them God’s messages of hope and comfort. Isaiah’s vision of God’s dream for the world is filled with infinite possibilities for the youth to consider during our time together. The story is an incredible vision from God that helped the people in their difficult time. Young and old children who have seen amazing performances with wild animals and magic shows in the circus know what it is like to see the impossible become possible. Their growing ability to reason enables them to go beyond and wonder how what seems impossible is made possible. They often want to become part of the action and are interested in doing amazing things themselves. Many of the older children in our group can describe their dreams and desires for what they hope the world will be. Even youth who have limited personal exposure to such conditions as war, homelessness, hunger, lack of medical care, or natural disasters know that these things exist. Most of them have real anxieties about these conditions and want to try and make things better. At our time together, we will have an opportunity to express our wishes for a change in the world around us. Pray that we will be inspired by Isaiah’s vision and discover ways to live into God’s dream. Children will be excused from worship after their Conversation with Pastor. Childcare will be available for children 5 years and under in the 2nd floor classrooms.
Upcoming Events and activitiesNovember 20 at 11:15 am annual Thanksgiving Stewardship Sunday and Thanksgiving Luncheon. It is a time of wonderful fellowship and even more wonderful food! This is a great time to invite a neighbor to worship and fellowship here at High Mountain Presbyterian Church.                                           November- Saturday 26: Time to decorate the Christmas tree in the Covenant room as we sip hot chocolate, exchange cookies, sing carols and make decorations.   Bring your favorite treats to share. Family and friends are welcome!

Soda Can Tabs

The Deacons are very grateful to the members and friends of High Mountain Presbyterian Church who are continuing to bring in soda can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.  The tabs are also available on sardine cans, tuna cans and some soup cans.  The tabs are needed by Ronald McDonald House where they are taken to be melted at a foundry and the cash value is then used for seriously ill children at the Monmouth Hospital.  The Ronald McDonald House which is only a few blocks away is used for families who wish to stay close to their children.  Please continue to add to the basket in the Narthex and Tom Noonan and Bill Graham will deliver what we have to add to the necessary needs of the Ronald McDonald House.
