Building a Life of Blessing

       We Believe in You

       Stewardship 2018

A long, long time ago, as far back as we can even remember, God spoke to Sarah and Abraham and invited them into a relationship.  They accepted.  The terms were simple.  God said “Let’s walk this life together. You be you and I will be me.  I will use you if you are willing to bless all the families on the earth.  I will give you blessings of food and, health, and spirit, faith and courage and you will in turn share these blessings with those you will come to know so that together we can respond to the broken condition of this world. “

The High Mountain Church stands in that tradition and promise.  We are building a life of walking together with each other.  We are committed to sharing what we have so that others will be strengthened for a life of faith and courage.  God is calling to us and asking us to bless the world on God’s behalf.

This month we are asking you to pledge your support of our mission for the year 2018.  You have been so faithful in your giving this year. Our pledges are right on track and our extra-giving campaigns are the best they have ever been.  As we begin our appeal for your promise of support in 2018 we want to show a list for you to see just a few of the ways we have shared with others from what you gave in 2017.  Here is a summary of our work together beyond our walls in the community.

Your gifts of financial support have gone to:

Center for Food Action and CUMAC food pantries to relieve the pain of hunger.

Summer Camp Scholarships to encourage young people in adventure and faith.

Pastoral Care services for local hospitals for those who do not have a church community.

Strengthen Our Sisters, breaking the cycle of domestic violence.

Presbyterian Hunger Fund and Habitat for Humanity, responding to the causes of homelessness and hunger.

Safe Space and Oasis in Paterson, providing safe options for children and parents.

Mission at the Eastward, making homes safer, warmer, and dryer in Appalachia.

Disaster Response in the USA and the World Workers rights campaigns for fair food practices.

New City Kids, a ministry after school for Paterson youth and children.

Please prayerfully consider what you will do when the request comes to you about your pledge of financial support for year 2018.

New City Kids

As you may know, our church is a proud partner of New City Kids: Paterson.  New City Kids is a powerful ministry which breaks the cycle of generational poverty for at-risk youth and sets them on a trajectory of life change. Youth are taught music, trusted with responsibility, empowered with leadership, and discipled and mentored by invested adults who walk alongside them from first grade through high school and onto college.

New City Kids: Paterson has invited us to share a night of wonder and joy as their youth tell the transformative story of New City Kids. We support the work and ministry of New City Kids and encourage you to accept the invitation to experience the legacy of The Red Guitar. Register now for your free ticket at bitly.com/theredguitar – the most exciting and inspiring benefit performance of the season, on Tuesday, November 14th at 6:30PM.

Faithworks

This lesson is based on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 which is the Coming of the Lord. We will read and discuss this scripture elaborating on the hope of all those who have passed and live in Christ. We will celebrate this joyful coming by coloring pictures that illustrate our welcome into heaven and we will meditate on the “Twas the night before Jesus came poem. We will discuss the importance of accepting Christ in our hearts and the reward that their is in following him. We will listen to the “I could only imagine” song where the children will have an encounter on how glorious it would be to have Jesus face to face.

Save This Date

This Sunday, November 12, High Mountain Presbyterian Church will host the New City Kids from Paterson, NJ.  During the regular worship time at 10AM, members of the New City ministry will help to lead in worship and proclaim the gospel in word and song.  This will be an exciting time of growing together with this ministry which we support through our mission giving.  The team will lead us in their “School of Rock” style of ministry which grows out of a very successful after-school program in Paterson and Jersey City.

This program has had tremendous success in reaching children and youth with a message of hope and growth that helps them to unlock the full potential of their lives.  You will be inspired and encouraged by their stories and their faith. The Mission team will present them with a check for $1000.00 from our mission outreach budget.

Please don’t miss this event!

“Let Your Faith Grow” Planting Campaign

Back in early 2015, HMPC undertook a complete property restoration including newly paved road, parking lot, sidewalks and lighting, just to name a few of the upgrades. We were required by the town to plant hundreds of trees throughout the church property. We offered our church members and friends the “Let Your Faith Grow” campaign, whereby anyone could purchase a tree to honor or memorialize a loved one, or to celebrate a birthday or special anniversary.  Each tree would become a named tree, to include such markings to reflect the buyer or honored individuals. The leadership of the church would like to remind you that trees are still available for purchase.  Landscape seating benches are also available.  The purchase of any tree or bench includes a dedication plaque.  Designed for every budget, this fundraiser allows you to help keep our property green, beautiful and growing into the future!  Please contact Pastor Lou or the church office at 201-891-0511 for more information.

Sunday Servers

One great way you can help HMPC is through your Stewardship of Time. By volunteering once a year, once a quarter or once a month, as a Greeter, Reader, or Hospitality person, you keep our Worship service and spirit of community going!  These jobs are super easy and if you would like to try one, please call church office at 201-891-051
