Welcome, New Members!
This past Sunday was a busy one here at HMPC! We started with baptism for Baby Mason Michael Adler, welcoming him into our loving church community. Then, we welcomed Patricia Chmiel, her son, Brandon; Stephanie, Paul and Mackenzie Adler; Lynn Collins and Susan and John Carbone.
Patricia lost her mom a few months ago and has been comforted by the members and friends at HMPC. Lynn Collins is the HMPC Bookkeeper and mom to Stephanie, mom-in-law to Paul and Grandmom to Mackenzie and Mason.
Susan and John were members at Red Bank Presbyterian, then moved to No. Haledon and joined No. Haledon Presbyterian in 1974. They have two sons, five grandchildren and have been Elder and Deacon in the Presbyterian Church. Welcome all!

“Let Your Faith Grow” Planting Campaign
Back in early 2015, HMPC undertook a complete property restoration including newly paved road, parking lot, sidewalks and lighting, just to name a few of the upgrades. We were required by the town to plant hundreds of trees throughout the church property. We offered our church members and friends the “Let Your Faith Grow” campaign, whereby anyone could purchase a tree to honor or memorialize a loved one, or to celebrate a birthday or special anniversary. Each tree would become a named tree, to include such markings to reflect the buyer or honored individuals. The leadership of the church would like to remind you that trees are still available for purchase. Landscape seating benches are also available. The purchase of any tree or bench includes a dedication plaque. Designed for every budget, this fundraiser allows you to help keep our property green, beautiful and growing into the future! Please contact Pastor Lou or the church office at 201-891-0511 for more information.
Farmworkers in Immokalee Impacted By Hurricane Irma
News from the Pr3sbyterian Mission Agency: “One of the hardest his areas during Hurricane Irma was Immokalee, Florida, home to thousands of migrant farmworkers. The poor living conditions for the families went from bad to worse as high winds and flooding knocked out power, damaged homes and left many with little food.”
Although Immokalee is about ten miles inland, most of the homes are old trailers and other substandard housing which were adversely affected by the storm. The Peace River Presbytery operates Mision Peniel in Immokalee, providing food and clothing to those in need on a regular basis. . They are planning on developing a community garden on the property. Even though workers pick thousands of pounds of fresh vegetables for others, they don’t have land to raise their own crops.
Your contribution to the Peace and Global Witness Offering will assist Mision Peniel and the Coalition of Immokalee Workers to make a difference in the lives of these families.
Walk In Dinner September 30 – Servers Needed
Thanks to all the cooks who responded to prepare the pasta dish for the Walk in Dinner Program at Iglesia Presbiteriana, 320 Main Street, Paterson, on Saturday, September 30. We still need servers, who need to arrive at the church at 3 pm and should be finished by 6. If you would like to join us, please sign up in the narthex or contact Barbara Fernstrom, bfernstrom1@gmail.com. It’s an opportunity for us to work with another congregation in assisting our neighbors in need
Flower Chart
There is a flower chart in the hall of the Narthex near Pastor Lou’s office.
It is a large hanging calendar with dates of each Sunday in the month. People may sign up for a certain date in order to give flowers in memory or in honor of someone. Call Linda Latham at 973-423-1840 if you have any questions of if you wish to place an order.

Sunday Servers
One great way you can help HMPC is through your Stewardship of Time. By volunteering once a year, once a quarter or once a month, as a Greeter, Reader, or Hospitality person, you keep our Worship service and spirit of community going! These jobs are super easy and if you would like to try one, please call Chris Buckley in the office at 201-891-0511.
Faithworks
Our lesson will be based on Philippians 4:13- I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength-. We will discuss this scripture and make a group list on our board on ways that God can strengthen us. These may include school, bullying, friendships, grief, etc. Each child will be making a muscle collage with muscle images to illustrate this concept with the heading being- It’s possible with God! I pray we can all become encouraged and empowered with this word.
