If you have never been a part of a book club or used to be and would like to join a club again, please consider joining the HPMC Book Group. There’s nothing to do: why not try coming for one meeting and see how enjoyable it is!

1/26 The Whistler by Kohn Grisham

Faithworks

This week’s lesson will be based on Genesis 1:1-5 with the theme “Let there be light!” We will read about how God created light from darkness and discuss on how we can be a light this year in a sometimes dark world. Answers might include praying for others and ourselves, showing kindness, doing the right thing even when no-one is looking, supporting each other as a church and asking God to put love in our heart. We will be making a craft to take home.

Franklin Lakes, Oakland and Wyckoff (FLOW) Clergy Gathering for MLK Day

The FLOW Clergy Association is planning a special MLK Day gathering in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. There will be a pot luck dinner following. The gathering will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Barnert Temple. Special guest Venerable Chris McCloud, Deacon of the Episcopal Arch Dioses of Newark, will be preaching. Please watch for the time announcement in next week’s PM.

HMPC Outreach Team Supports PCUSA Office of Public Witness

As part of our outreach funds, we sent $1000 to the PCUSA Office of Public Witness. In 2016, Rev. Rosemary Mitchell of that agency met with the team and explained the work of the office and how funds ae used. The Ministry of the United Nations and the Office of Public Witness in Washington, DC, are the voice of PCUSA’s social witness policy and advocacy. These ministries inspire, equip and connect Presbyterians to engage the issues of our day in our own communities, our nation and our world. They provide trustworthy information, resources for congregations, as well as internships and field education opportunities for college and seminary students. For further information, see www.presbyterianmissionagency.org/ministries/compassion-peace-justice/washington/.

One great way you can help HMPC is through your Stewardship of Time. By volunteering once a year, once a quarter or once a month, as a Greeter, Reader, or Hospitality person, you keep our Worship service and spirit of community going! These jobs are super easy and if you would like to try one, please call church office at 201-891-0511
