HMPC Church Entrance

Our church entrance is once again graced by a beautiful reflection of the season, thanks to the hard work and creative artistry of Linda Latham. She takes care of the urns on the front porch, keeping them filled with seasonal floral arrangements and making our church entrance welcoming 365 days of the year. Linda also takes care of the church sanctuary during the Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter church seasons.  She is a true steward of HMPC and we thank her for her commitment!

“Let Your Faith Grow” Planting Campaign

Back in early 2015, HMPC undertook a complete property restoration including newly paved road, parking lot, sidewalks and lighting, just to name a few of the upgrades. We were required by the town to plant hundreds of trees throughout the church property. We offered our church members and friends the “Let Your Faith Grow” campaign, whereby anyone could purchase a tree to honor or memorialize a loved one, or to celebrate a birthday or special anniversary.  Each tree would become a named tree, to include such markings to reflect the buyer or honored individuals. The leadership of the church would like to remind you that trees are still available for purchase.  Landscape seating benches are also available.  The purchase of any tree or bench includes a dedication plaque.  Designed for every budget, this fundraiser allows you to help keep our property green, beautiful and growing into the future!  Please contact Pastor Lou or the church office at 201-891-0511 for more information.

Memorial Garden Work Day

We will be working on the Memorial Garden on October 17th and then again November 28th.  If anyone would like to help out, we meet at around 9AM and appreciate volunteers.  Please bring gardening gloves and tools.

Peace Offering

On Sunday, October 1, our church collected a special offering. Through your generosity our church collected over $250.00 – thank you! A gift to the Peace & Global Witness Offering supports Presbyterian ministries of peacemaking and witnessing to the Peace of Christ. A portion (25%) stays here to help support our own peacemaking through the summer mission trips to Maine.

Also, your generosity towards the Presbyterian Disaster Relief Fund raised $2040.00. Thank you for your generous gifts!

Faithworks

Our lesson is based on Philippians 4:4-7 that states “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. We will thoroughly discuss this passage. Every student will have a chance to read a verse.  We will take turns on writing prayer petitions on our board and at the end we will make a circle and pray about everything that we listed. We will also write these on paper and each child will take one home to pray for during the week. We will have -Free Art- where the children can illustrate there petitions on paper through our different art materials. I pray that the children will learn to continue to feel confident in putting their petitions before the Lord and that they may experience this amazing peace.

Another Victory for Migrant Justice

Milk with Dignity has begun with an agreement between Ben & Jerry’s and Migrant Justice. Modeled after the Fair Food Program of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, Ben & Jerry’s will pay participating farmers a premium and require that farms ensure fair and dignified work and housing conditions. Rev. Noelle Damico, former director of the Fair Food Program had visited HMPC a few years ago to present the work of the Coalition for tomato pickers in Florida, has been active in the Milk with Dignity Campaign.  HMPC  contributes to CIW through the Presbyterian Hunger Fund.
