HMPC Bell Choir Practice

“Let Your Faith Grow” Planting Campaign

Back in early 2015, HMPC undertook a complete property restoration including newly paved road, parking lot, sidewalks and lighting, just to name a few of the upgrades. We were required by the town to plant hundreds of trees throughout the church property. We offered our church members and friends the “Let Your Faith Grow” campaign, whereby anyone could purchase a tree to honor or memorialize a loved one, or to celebrate a birthday or special anniversary.  Each tree would become a named tree, to include such markings to reflect the buyer or honored individuals. The leadership of the church would like to remind you that trees are still available for purchase.  Landscape seating benches are also available.  The purchase of any tree or bench includes a dedication plaque.  Designed for every budget, this fundraiser allows you to help keep our property green, beautiful and growing into the future!  Please contact Pastor Lou or the church office at 201-891-0511 for more information.

Calling All Painters!

The Fernie Habitat Build is nearing completion and we have scheduled a workday for Thursday, September 28 from 7:45 – 3:45. Drywall is being installed this week so volunteers are needed to paint the walls. All supplies provided. Those who are willing and able should contact Kathy Fernstrom by September 25 at Katherine.fernstrom@sappi.com to register and for further information. The Gonzalez family is anxious to move into their new home and we’re working hard to see that they do so in November. Thanks to all who have helped make this dream a reality.

Walk In Dinner September 30 – Servers Needed

Thanks to all the cooks who responded to prepare the pasta dish for the Walk in Dinner Program at Iglesia Presbiteriana, 320 Main Street, Paterson, on Saturday, September 30. We now have plenty of food but still need more servers. Servers need to arrive at the church at 3 pm and should be finished by 6. If you would like to join us, please sign up in the narthex or contact Barbara Fernstrom, bfernstrom1@gmail.com. It’s an opportunity for us to work with another congregation in assisting our neighbors

in need

.

Flower Chart

There is a flower chart in the hall of the Narthex near Pastor Lou’s office.

It is a large hanging calendar with dates of each Sunday in the month.  People may sign up for a certain date in order to give flowers in memory or in honor of someone. Call Linda Latham at 973-423-1840 if you have any questions of if you wish to place an order.

Thank You

A few months ago we said goodbye to Patricia Pastas who was our coordinator of children and youth education and activities. We had run out of money needed to continue the program at that scale.  We wondered what would happen and how we would go forward with our commitments to children and youth.

At that time one family from the church stepped up with a challenge to the giving community here. They pledged $6000.00 over their regular support for the Children’s Education Ministry. They asked if we would seek other donors who would match their gift and thereby double the support.

So we launched the matching gift challenge. As of today the gift has been matched and more.   We are so very excited about your willingness to give financial support and pray for this ministry.  Some of you also have pledged your time and energy through the year to make this ministry happen.

Thank you so very much on behalf of everyone for your support and encouragement. The Children’s ministry will be directed by Iggy Rodriguez and she will supervise a team of helpers both paid and volunteers that will help to meet the needs of our youngest members.  Thank you for your generosity and your visible, tangible support.

Prayers & Announcements

Announcements for the Sunday Worship

Service should be emailed to the church

office. If you would like the community

to pray with you please call the office at

201-891-0511.

Sunday Servers

One great way you can help HMPC is through your Stewardship of Time. By volunteering once a year, once a quarter or once a month, as a Greeter, Reader, or Hospitality person, you keep our Worship service and spirit of community going! These jobs are super easy and if you would like to try one, please call Chris Buckley in the office at 201-891-0511.

Reading Group @ HMPC

The Book Club meets on the 4th Friday

of the month and anyone is invited to

come and discuss the books. Bring a friend to join in the lively discussion!

9/22 Last Hope Island by Lynne Olson

Faithworks

The lesson will be based on Matthew 28:1-10 which is the Ressurection of Jesus- the empty tomb. We will read the scripture and discuss the concept of Ressurection- to be brought from death to life. We will use a large blanket where each child will take turns in crawling in and using a flashlight to write on an index card what they would like to die from and be born again to. Responses will differ but may be from choices like hate, envy, anger, sadness, fear etc. Each child will walk out proclaiming life in an area that they struggle in( what they wrote on their card) We will also illustrate the scripture with a coloring page.
